The Indian Army is set to receive a significant upgrade in its combat power following the US approval of a USD 93 million deal for advanced military hardware. The acquisitions comprise the renowned Javelin anti-tank missile system and the precision-guided M982A1 Excalibur artillery rounds. The Javelin system provides soldiers with a crucial ‘fire-and-forget’ capability, allowing them to engage and neutralize enemy armored vehicles from considerable distances. Its advanced infrared guidance system ensures the missile tracks its target independently, empowering soldiers to fire and reposition quickly. The Excalibur rounds, on the other hand, offer unparalleled accuracy for artillery fire, utilizing GPS guidance to strike targets with pinpoint precision. These highly accurate munitions enhance the Indian Army’s ability to conduct surgical strikes and neutralize threats at extended ranges. This strategic move by India, supported by the US, reinforces its defense capabilities and its commitment to maintaining regional stability by deterring potential adversaries with advanced offensive and defensive capabilities.
