India and Ukraine have held discussions on the ongoing conflict, with India reaffirming its support for a quick end to the war. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba spoke on the phone, addressing the conflict and matters of bilateral cooperation. Jaishankar stated that India supports ending the conflict and achieving a lasting peace. Kuleba briefed Jaishankar on the war and Ukraine’s attempts to secure a just peace, expressing confidence in India’s official support and active role in fostering broader international peace efforts. The ministers have agreed to meet during the UN General Assembly later this month. They plan to continue the development of bilateral relations, including political talks, high-level contacts, economic collaboration, technological advancements and other cooperative areas. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tianjin, where Modi welcomed the recent efforts to establish peace in Ukraine and called for a resolution to the conflict.
