
In a significant diplomatic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Parliament of Ghana and extended an invitation to its lawmakers to visit India’s new Parliament building. During his address, he emphasized India’s commitment to gender equality through the Women’s Reservation Act. Modi highlighted India’s economic prospects, positioning the nation as a future global economic powerhouse. He also referenced the recent re-election of the government, underscoring the nation’s political stability. The Prime Minister noted the historical significance of the relationship between Africa and India’s space endeavors. Speaking on global challenges, Modi advocated for much needed reforms in global governance. He also described India’s democratic roots and diverse culture. Modi noted the successful integration of the Indian diaspora in Ghana. Modi was also presented with Ghana’s highest civilian award and dedicated it to the youth of both countries. The visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over three decades, is intended to deepen the India-Ghana partnership and signal New Delhi’s continuous commitment to engagement with Africa and the Global South.
