San Francisco International Airport witnessed the arrest of Rustom Bhagwagar, a Delta Air Lines co-pilot of Indian descent, just minutes after his plane landed on Sunday. The 34-year-old was arrested around 7:05 AM IST, facing charges of sexual assault. Law enforcement agents, including those from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security Investigations, moved quickly to take Bhagwagar into custody. The arrest occurred while passengers were still preparing to disembark from Delta Flight 2809, a Boeing 757-300, which had arrived from Minneapolis. The co-pilot expressed surprise at the situation. The arrest warrant was issued after an investigation that began in April 2025 into reports of sex crimes against a minor. Bhagwagar is charged with five counts of child sexual abuse and is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility, with bail set at $5 million.
