The main point of discussion involved the necessity of immediate dialogue and diplomatic channels to calm the situation down. Modi, through a post on X, shared that he and the Iranian President had a detailed discussion regarding the current scenario, expressing deep concern over the recent escalations. He also repeated India’s stance on the need for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy to restore regional peace.
Trump announced on Saturday that the US had carried out ‘precise and large-scale’ attacks on Iran, with a warning of further measures if peace wasn’t maintained. Iran condemned the attacks as violations of international law and confirmed their commitment to continue the nuclear program. A statement by the AEOI condemned the attacks, highlighting the violation of international regulations and the role of IAEA. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the US military action. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran had entered its ninth day by Saturday, with the US now supporting Israel. Concurrently, India is taking steps to safely evacuate its citizens stuck in Iran, arranging multiple flights for the process.
