Iran has strongly criticized the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, accusing them of leveraging the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their own political advantage.
The criticism was voiced by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, who responded to reports that these Western nations are attempting to advance an anti-Iran resolution at the IAEA’s Board of Governors meeting in Vienna.
Baqaei stated that while Iran has cooperated with the IAEA on various occasions, the US and the three European countries have been exploiting the agency for their own political purposes. He reiterated Iran’s dedication to its commitments under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and Comprehensive Safeguard Agreements.
It is believed that France, Britain, Germany, and the United States are currently backing a draft resolution against Iran over supposed instances of non-compliance with safeguard obligations.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that former US President Donald Trump sought the assistance of Russia in attempting to revive the stalled US-Iran nuclear talks. According to Yury Ushakov, an aide to President Vladimir Putin, the two leaders discussed the matter, and Trump expressed his view that Russia’s involvement could be crucial.
