Iran has made it clear that it will not engage in negotiations with the United States unless Washington provides a firm guarantee against future military aggression. Iranian officials have stated that such assurances are essential to prevent a recurrence of attacks like those carried out by the US and Israel. This stance was articulated by Iranian Ambassador to India, Dr. Iraj Elahi, who emphasized that any dialogue would be pointless without a commitment to security.
The ambassador pointed to the recent military actions. In June, Israel launched strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities and military sites. Subsequently, the US conducted its own strikes. Iran has strongly condemned both operations, deeming them violations of international law and the UN Charter.
Elahi criticized the US and Israel for undermining diplomacy and causing the deaths of Iranian scientists, military personnel, and civilians. He maintained that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful. For talks to proceed, the US must ensure that such attacks will not happen again. Iran views the attacks as a betrayal of diplomatic efforts.
