A senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has called for Iran to become a member of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense pact. Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the advisor, sees the agreement as beneficial and suggests that Iran, along with Iraq and other countries, should participate. Safavi emphasized that Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq should unite to become a powerful regional entity, fostering increased security cooperation. The Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, which was signed during a state visit to Riyadh by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, stipulates that any aggression against either Saudi Arabia or Pakistan will be treated as an act of aggression against both.
