The recent Israeli air strike in Sanaa, Yemen, resulted in the death of the Houthi Prime Minister, Ahmed al-Rahawi. The strike also claimed the lives of several ministers. The Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran, confirmed the death on Saturday. A statement released by the rebels said that al-Rahawi was killed in a strike on Thursday in Sana’a. The Israeli military stated that it had executed a targeted strike on a military location belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime. The statement said that al-Rahawi had been leading the Houthi-led government as Prime Minister since August 2024.
Al-Rahawi was reportedly attending a workshop with other government members to review the previous year’s accomplishments and progress when the attack occurred. During the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles against Israel in support of the Palestinians.
