Danny Danon, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN, expressed strong support for the US strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites. During an emergency session of the UN Security Council, Danon stated that the US action eliminated the “greatest existential threat to humanity.” He directly addressed the session, convened to discuss threats to international peace and security, and staunchly defended the US-led Operation Midnight Hammer. He criticized nations that condemned the strikes, questioning their past inaction regarding Iran’s nuclear activities and alleged intentions. Danon accused Iran of employing nuclear negotiations as a deceptive tactic to advance its missile and uranium enrichment programs. He warned of the grave consequences of a nuclear Iran. The strikes targeted key Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that approximately 20 Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets carried out intelligence-based strikes using over 30 munitions across Hamedan and Tehran. The IDF reported that the strikes focused on missile storage, launch infrastructure, radar and satellite systems, and a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran, as part of a wider effort to degrade the Iranian regime’s military capabilities and ensure aerial security for Israeli citizens.
