Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan during a joint press conference. He stated that the plan achieves Israel’s war goals, which include the return of all hostages, dismantling Hamas’ military and ending its political control, ensuring Gaza no longer poses a threat. Netanyahu underscored the strong partnership between Israel and the United States, highlighting their ability to overcome obstacles. He also acknowledged Trump’s role in making the region and the world safer. Detailing Israel’s plan, Netanyahu outlined the need to disarm Hamas and to establish a peaceful civilian administration in Gaza. He explicitly excluded Hamas or the Palestinian Authority from any role in the new administration. He further stated that if Hamas agrees to the peace plan, the first step would be a withdrawal followed by the release of all hostages within 72 hours. Netanyahu also warned that if Hamas rejects the plan, Israel would take action to finish the job and called for an international body to fully disarm Hamas.
