Italy presents an enticing ‘Investor Visa,’ commonly referred to as a Golden Visa, for individuals outside the EU and Schengen zones looking to establish residency. This program, introduced reportedly in 2017, aims to foster economic growth through targeted foreign investment.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and non-EU/Schengen nationals. The initial investor visa allows entry into Italy for two years, during which time the holder must apply for a renewable residence permit. A strict deadline of eight working days after arrival is set for submitting this residence permit application.
Holders of this visa benefit from full access to Italy’s high-quality public services, including its advanced healthcare and esteemed educational institutions. The application dossier requires a copy of your passport, a detailed CV showcasing your professional journey and academic achievements, and documentation verifying the source and availability of your investment capital. This includes proof of fund ownership, lawful origin, transferability, and a clean judicial record.
The application process is entirely digital. Prospective investors first register on the designated online platform. They then proceed to complete their profile, upload their passport and CV, and select their preferred investment route. The submission of the visa application is free of charge. The Italian authorities commit to reviewing applications and communicating decisions via the platform within 30 days of submission.
