US Vice President JD Vance shared his views on faith and interfaith marriage, revealing his personal hope that his wife, Usha, will eventually convert to Christianity. Vance made these comments during a recent Turning Point USA event. He expressed his deeply held belief in the Christian gospel and his desire for his wife to share it, but immediately qualified this by stating, “if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will.” Vance recounted that he and Usha, who comes from a Hindu background, met at Yale when both were exploring their spiritual paths. They have since decided together to raise their children as Christians, a decision Vance highlighted as requiring open family communication. The Vice President, who returned to his Protestant upbringing and later converted to Catholicism, noted that navigating religious differences is common in many relationships, including those between various Christian denominations or between religious individuals and atheists. He later clarified his remarks on social media, confirming his wife has no intention of converting and underscoring his commitment to their relationship.
