The incident occurred 44 nautical miles from Azhikkal, Kerala. The ship had 22 crew members, including 14 Chinese nationals. The vessel was traveling from Colombo to Nhava Sheva when the explosion happened under the deck. Search and rescue operations are in progress, with several crew members missing or injured. The Indian Coast Guard is actively involved in firefighting and rescue, deploying ships and aircraft to the scene. The cargo ship is listing, and some containers have fallen overboard. The Coast Guard is working to control the fire and stabilize the vessel.
