Speculation is mounting about a potential visit to India by former US President Donald Trump next year, following his warm remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he called a “great friend.” Trump reported that his trade discussions with India are “going great” and noted that PM Modi has largely ceased purchasing oil from Russia. In comments made to the press, Trump expressed his positive relationship with the Indian Prime Minister, stating, “He’s a friend of mine, and we speak.” He also confirmed that PM Modi wants him to visit, and he plans to accept the invitation, possibly next year. This development follows discussions about India hosting the Quad summit in New Delhi. Trump also revisited his narrative that trade tariffs served as a powerful tool to end international disputes, specifically mentioning the India-Pakistan tensions and claiming his actions resolved the conflict quickly through economic pressure.
