Muhammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, disclosed that he had asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prevent former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from delivering speeches to the Bangladeshi populace and her Awami League supporters from Indian territory. This revelation was made during a conversation at Chatham House. Yunus explained that he directly addressed the issue with PM Modi. He stated that he appealed to Modi to help prevent Hasina from speaking to Bangladeshi people in the manner she was. Yunus added that the speeches were causing considerable anger in Bangladesh. When questioned if India had acted on his request, Yunus answered in the negative and quoted PM Modi’s explanation that social media made control impossible.
