Due to the prevailing situation, all airports in Nepal, including Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, will be closed until 12 PM on Wednesday. Flights were grounded from 2 PM on Tuesday. This has left numerous travelers stranded, both in Nepal and overseas, with all takeoffs and landings suspended since the afternoon of September 9th. The Nepali Army has assumed control of security both inside and outside the airport.
Airport authorities will reassess the situation before making a decision on reopening the airport after Wednesday noon. The Army’s presence is intended to ensure security, though the safety of planes and passengers cannot be fully guaranteed at this time.
Buddha Air has confirmed that its operations will be affected on Wednesday, offering apologies for any disruption. They will continue to provide updates on flight schedules and related details. Similarly, Indian airlines, IndiGo and SpiceJet, have issued travel advisories, announcing the suspension of their Kathmandu flights.
