Bangladesh is home to a significant Rohingya refugee population, with the government providing shelter to nearly a million individuals. This humanitarian effort has been praised globally. The initial influx of Rohingya refugees began in 2017, driven by violence in Myanmar. The situation has worsened recently due to ongoing conflicts in Rakhine state. To support Bangladesh’s efforts in providing refuge to the Rohingya, the international community provides various forms of assistance. The Netherlands has pledged over 500,000 Euros to help with humanitarian and protection efforts, which will be distributed through the UNHCR. The UN also plays a crucial role in supporting the Rohingya. Some Rohingya have sought refuge in India, where their situation has attracted international attention. Rohingya people are considered among the world’s most vulnerable communities.
