
Following widespread Gen-Z protests in Nepal, Sushila Karki has assumed the role of interim Prime Minister. In her initial address, she stressed the need to listen to the aspirations of the younger generation. Referring to the Gen-Z protestors who led demonstrations against corruption, the 73-year-old former Chief Justice expressed that the government should adopt their perspective, focusing on ending corruption, promoting good governance, and achieving economic equality.
Karki, known for her integrity, has committed to eradicating corruption within the interim government. She emphasized that her appointment came through public demand.
She clarified that the interim government’s term would be limited to six months, focusing on completing their responsibilities and transferring power to the forthcoming parliament and ministers.
President Poudel has confirmed the dissolution of parliament, with elections scheduled for March 5. The new Prime Minister has also pledged to provide approximately 10 lakh rupees to the families of those killed by the police. Karki visited a hospital in Kathmandu on Friday to check on the injured.
