The family of Masood Azhar, the leader of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, was devastated during Operation Sindoor, a strike carried out by the Indian Air Force. This information was revealed by Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, a close associate of Azhar, five months after the operation. Kashmiri explained that on the night of May 7th, the family was asleep in Bahawalpur when the strike took place, resulting in the deaths of all family members. He asserted the importance of understanding the reasons behind this tragedy.
Kashmiri’s revelation came during a rally in Pakistan. He is a key figure in Jaish’s propaganda wing and is known to be a trusted confidant of Masood Azhar. He actively participated with Azhar in the radicalization of young people. Kashmiri is also listed as a top-tier operative by the NIA.
14 family members were killed in the attack.
The strike targeted a madrasa in Bahawalpur, which was associated with Masood Azhar. Fourteen members of Azhar’s family were present in the madrasa on the night of the attack and were killed. Following the attack, Masood Azhar released a statement.
In the statement, Azhar indicated that he no longer wished to continue living. According to reports from Pakistani media, Masood Azhar’s sister and brother-in-law were among those killed in Operation Sindoor.
Masood Azhar has been in hiding since Operation Sindoor.
Azhar’s whereabouts have been unknown since the operation. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif recently claimed that there were no terrorists present on Pakistani soil. Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto suggested that Azhar and other terrorists could be hiding in Afghanistan, although this has not been confirmed by Afghanistan.
More About Operation Sindoor:
In late April, Pakistani terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba killed 26 innocent people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian security forces subsequently initiated Operation Sindoor. This involved the destruction of nine terrorist training facilities located in Pakistan.
These facilities served as bases for both Lashkar and Jaish. Approximately 100 terrorists were killed during this operation, which the Indian government has stated is ongoing.
