A catastrophic flood has ravaged the northwestern region of Pakistan, leading to a mounting death toll. Over the past 48 hours, approximately 340 lives have been lost, with 137 people sustaining injuries. Relief operations are ongoing in nine districts, including Buner, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Bajaur, and Mansehra, where about 2,000 personnel are actively engaged. On Saturday, relief workers recovered 63 more bodies from the rubble of houses destroyed by the floods and landslides. The meteorological department has issued warnings about the possibility of heavier rainfall in the near future. A survivor from the Buner floods described the harrowing sight of numerous boulders and massive rocks swept away by the floodwaters. Emergency services are still searching for survivors in Buner. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was the most severely affected area, following torrential rains and a cloudburst on Friday. Many homes were swept away in the floods.
