Hafiz Saeed, the head of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has postponed a highly anticipated rally in Lahore indefinitely. The event, originally set for November 2nd at Minar-e-Pakistan, was meant to showcase the banned organization’s influence. However, Pakistani officials have confirmed the deferral, leaving supporters in limbo regarding a new date.
Social media videos captured an LeT representative informing attendees that the rally was postponed on the personal decision of Hafiz Saeed, referred to as ‘Ameer-e-Mohtaram’. This unexpected turn has caused considerable confusion and dismay among the group’s base, who were looking forward to Saeed’s prominent public appearance.
Sources within the intelligence community indicate that Pakistan’s ISI played a role in urging the LeT to cancel the rally. This alleged intervention is reportedly linked to the heightened threat level posed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), whose attacks have intensified lately. The Pakistani security apparatus is reportedly operating at a high state of alert due to increasing tensions between militant factions.
The rally was also planned as a commemoration for militants lost during the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’. Reports suggest that posters honoring LeT operatives from the Muridke region, deemed ‘martyrs’, were prepared for the event. The sudden cancellation has reportedly left many LeT followers feeling frustrated and uncertain about what comes next.
Insiders suggest the postponement might signal internal discord between LeT leadership and Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. The group’s supporters are now awaiting official updates on the rally’s rescheduling. This situation unfolds as Pakistan faces intense domestic and international scrutiny regarding its efforts to combat terrorism and its financing, making the LeT’s next moves critical for the future of this prominent militant entity.
