Pakistan’s attempts to propagate false narratives about military engagements have been publicly dismantled by the French Navy. An article in Pakistan’s Geo TV, purporting to quote a French naval officer, has been officially refuted for spreading ‘misinformation and disinformation,’ particularly concerning Indian Rafale jets during Operation Sindoor.
The Pakistani media report claimed that a French naval commander had acknowledged Pakistan’s air superiority and stated that Indian Rafale jets were shot down. These assertions were made in relation to India’s retaliatory strikes following a terrorist attack. However, the French Navy has categorically denied these claims, exposing the story as a fabrication.
Further compounding the issue, Geo TV incorrectly attributed fabricated statements to Captain Yvan Launay, even misspelling his name as ‘Jacques Launay.’ This glaring error highlights the manufactured nature of the report.
The French Navy, in a decisive public statement, declared that the attributed quotes were false and that Captain Launay had not authorized any publication. The official response characterized the Pakistani article as containing ‘extensive misinformation and disinformation.’ This strong debunking by a credible international military source leaves Pakistan’s propaganda apparatus exposed, demonstrating a deliberate effort to create a false sense of victory and mislead the public.
