
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a visit to Japan, participating in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. Subsequently, he will travel to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. This trip serves a dual purpose: deepening technological and investment cooperation with Japan and providing a forum to address multilateral issues at the SCO summit in China. Discussions on normalizing relations with China are expected.
In Japan, PM Modi will participate in the 15th annual summit, responding to an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The focus of the summit will be to take the Special Strategic and Global Partnership to the next stage. This includes expansion of economic and investment ties and collaboration in the evolving fields of AI and semiconductors. PM Modi also aims to strengthen the existing civilizational and cultural partnership between India and Japan.
Following the Japan visit, PM Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. PM Modi stated that India is an active and constructive member of the SCO and will be driving new initiatives during its chairmanship, including innovation, health and cultural exchange. Bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Putin, and other leaders are scheduled.
The Prime Minister expressed his belief that this visit will serve to consolidate India’s national interests while also contributing to regional and global peace, security and sustainable development.
