Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun an important diplomatic expedition across three nations: Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman. This tour is designed to foster enhanced strategic partnerships, building upon the ancient civilizational links and extensive contemporary connections India maintains with these countries. The first leg of the visit is to Jordan, where the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations will be celebrated. The Prime Minister’s agenda includes significant discussions with King Abdullah II and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, alongside an engagement with the Indian community in Amman. Subsequently, the Prime Minister travels to Ethiopia, a country not visited by an Indian Prime Minister since 2011. Addis Ababa, as the seat of the African Union and a recent G20 inductee, will be the venue for discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. A significant parliamentary address is planned, focusing on India’s role as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ and the mutual benefits of the India-Ethiopia partnership for the Global South. The journey’s final destination is Oman, marking 70 years of diplomatic ties. Prime Minister Modi will meet the Sultan of Oman to explore avenues for strengthening their strategic partnership and economic collaboration. He will also address a gathering of the Indian diaspora, acknowledging their integral role in fostering relations between the two nations.
