The ongoing clashes between Israel and the Houthis have witnessed a recent escalation, with Israeli forces conducting a series of strikes in Sana’a, Yemen. These attacks, which began on Sunday, were directed at the Haziz power station located south of the capital. This power plant is a key component of the city’s electrical grid. The attacks reportedly impacted the station’s generators, rendering them non-functional and leading to a complete disruption of the power supply. The Israeli Navy later took responsibility for the strikes. The attacks were immediately condemned by the Houthis, with political bureau member Hazem al-Asad accusing Israel of deliberately targeting essential service facilities and Yemeni civilians. The Houthis view these attacks as part of a broader strategy to undermine Yemen’s infrastructure. These events come as the Houthis continue their military operations in support of Gaza, targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The Yemeni armed forces have vowed to persist in these actions until the Israeli assault on Gaza ceases. In response to Houthi actions, Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom have launched strikes against Houthi positions and civilian infrastructure in Yemen, leading to civilian casualties, including women and children.
