He cautioned that such actions could have adverse economic consequences. Putin suggested that higher tariffs on Russian trade partners would trigger global price increases, potentially compelling the US Federal Reserve to maintain elevated interest rates. The Trump administration’s imposition of an additional 25% tariff on India, pushing the overall tax on Indian exports to 50% by August, was also mentioned. Speaking to Russian experts, Putin declared, “India and China will not permit themselves to be humiliated.”
