An intense aerial assault was launched by Israel against Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. The attacks specifically targeted Houthi rebels and concentrated on energy infrastructure within the city. Sanaa is presently under the control of the Houthi terrorist group.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on social media that various military targets belonging to the Houthi regime in Sanaa, Yemen, were hit. These included a military site near the presidential palace, the Adar and Hizaz power plants, and a fuel storage depot. The IDF stated that these locations were utilized for the Houthi regime’s military operations. The strikes were undertaken in retaliation for repeated missile and UAV attacks on Israel by the Houthis. The Houthis, backed by Iran, are accused of using civilian infrastructure for terror purposes.
The IDF emphasized that all the targeted locations were being used by the Houthis for terrorist activities. These strikes were a response to recent attacks by the Houthis against Israel, using missiles and UAVs. The Houthi organization receives support and funding from Iran.
Houthi-affiliated media outlets, as reported by Al Jazeera, indicated that at least two fatalities and five injuries resulted from the Israeli attack on the Yemeni capital. The Israeli military confirmed the targeting of Houthi military infrastructure, which included a site in the presidential palace area and the Asar and Hizaz power plants.
The operation involved approximately a dozen Israeli Air Force planes, along with refuelling aircraft. The military stated the strikes were in response to the persistent attacks launched by the Houthis against Israel.
