A pilgrimage celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv has taken a dramatic and concerning turn as an Indian woman, Sarabjit Kaur, has disappeared in Pakistan, sparking intense investigations by both countries. Kaur, who was part of a large contingent of Sikh pilgrims, vanished on November 13, just as the group was preparing to return to India.
Sarabjit Kaur, hailing from Punjab, arrived in Pakistan on November 4 along with 1,931 other pilgrims. Her failure to appear for the return journey triggered immediate alarms. Investigators have noted a peculiar detail on her immigration form: it was left incomplete, with key fields like nationality and passport number unfiled. This oversight is now considered a critical piece of the puzzle.
From Pakistan, startling allegations have emerged, amplified by social media. A letter purportedly claims that Sarabjit Kaur has embraced Islam, undergone a nikah (Islamic marriage contract) with a local man identified as Nasir Hussain, and is now known as Noor Hussain. Reports suggest that a mosque in Sheikhupura has even issued a document confirming the marriage, allegedly conducted with Kaur’s consent. However, Indian security agencies are approaching these claims with extreme caution, exploring the possibility of a staged event or misinformation.
A more intricate theory is also being examined: that Kaur’s disappearance might be linked to an attempt at illegal immigration to the United Kingdom. Whispers suggest her husband has lived in the UK for the past twenty years. This has fueled speculation that Kaur might have exploited the pilgrimage as an opportunity to utilize clandestine ‘dunkey routes’ for illegal entry into the UK via Pakistan.
Adding to the complexity, Sarabjit Kaur’s past has come under intense scrutiny. Records indicate she was acquitted in three previous criminal cases. Furthermore, her sons have faced legal issues related to NDPS Act violations. These details are leading investigators to question whether her disappearance was pre-planned and if she had established connections within Pakistan.
Authorities have officially stated that there is no confirmation regarding the religious conversion or marriage claims at this juncture. Intelligence agencies from both India and Pakistan are actively working to trace Sarabjit Kaur’s whereabouts and uncover the truth. The situation remains fluid, with ongoing inquiries aiming to determine if Kaur acted willingly, was coerced, or is part of a larger, possibly criminal, operation.
