On August 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a bilateral session during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. This summit appearance will mark PM Modi’s first visit to China in over seven years. Complementing this, a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled for September 1 in Tianjin. These discussions are generating global interest, especially considering the current trade dynamics between India and the U.S., compounded by U.S. penalties related to India’s ongoing procurement of Russian oil, influenced by the conflict in Ukraine. Before the summit, India expressed its anticipation for a strong condemnation of cross-border terrorism from the SCO.
