Inderjit Singh Gosal, a Khalistani activist and close associate of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has been arrested in Canada on charges related to firearms possession. The arrest occurred in Ottawa. This event follows closely on the heels of discussions between the National Security Advisors of India and Canada, Ajit Doval and Nathalie Drouin. Their meeting focused on strengthening cooperation on terrorism and transnational crime. Gosal, 36, is widely considered to be Pannun’s second-in-command and has served as his bodyguard. He is believed to have become a prominent organizer for SFJ in Canada after the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. Gosal was arrested in November regarding a violent incident at a Hindu temple. Additionally, police informed Gosal of threats to his life in August 2022. Pannun confirmed that Canadian officials had issued a “duty to warn” notice to Gosal. Gosal, while acknowledging these threats, has stated his commitment to the Khalistani session plan for Punjab.
