
The Kerala community living in Dubai is recently facing intense criticism on social media. He warmly welcomed former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi at a program, which proved to be controversial. The controversy emerged when Afridi commented on the terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 citizens of India. After this, India destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor.

In a video that went viral on social media, it was seen that when Afridi reached the stage, the people of the community welcome him with the slogans of “Boom Boom” by stopping the cultural presentation of the program. On the stage, Afridi said that he loves India, especially Kerala and the food there. He jokingly said that “done boom boom.”

Afridi recently took a sarcasm at India during a conversation on Sama TV in Pakistan. He said that if firecrackers also burst in India, then it is blamed on Pakistan. Along with this, he also criticized the Indian Army, saying that the situation is not improving despite having 8 lakh soldiers in Kashmir, which makes it clear that they are unsuccessful in providing security. Apart from this, Afridi termed Indian media reporting as “Bollywood drama” and indirectly took a dig at Indian cricketers. The responsibility of the terrorist attack in Pahgam has been taken by ‘The Resistance Front (TRF)’, which is related to the banned Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

An X user shared a video of Afridi’s reception and commented that it was how embarrassing that after the Pahgam attack, this Pakistani was honored by the Malayali community in Dubai as a boom boom. After this, there was a flood of reactions on social media. One user wrote that the level of patriotism has fallen and it is extremely shameful, while the other said that it was not expected from the most educated state, which is derogatory.
