Pakistan is set to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in 2027, as announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The announcement was made during a road development project in Rawalpindi. No specific dates for the summit were provided.
Sharif mentioned the importance of starting preparations right away, particularly to enhance the appearance of Islamabad. This declaration occurred two weeks after the SCO summit held in Tianjin, China. At the summit, Pakistan addressed the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) issue. India had suspended the treaty in April following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives.
