The Taliban has been administering public floggings in Afghanistan, with 114 people, including 20 women, subjected to the punishment in the last month. These floggings are carried out across several provinces, including Kabul, Parwan, and Takhar. Women who were flogged were often accused of running away or moral misconduct. Human rights activists and international organizations have strongly criticized the Taliban’s actions, which they consider inhumane and a violation of human dignity. The UN has expressed its concern, noting that the Taliban’s actions are a part of their effort to enforce Sharia law. Similar punishments are also practiced in countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Malaysia.
