According to the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defence, 12 Chinese military aircraft and seven naval vessels were active around Taiwan until 6 a.m. on Thursday. Of these, 10 aircraft crossed the median line, entering Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). Taiwan’s military forces have responded to these incursions by deploying air and naval assets, as well as coastal missile systems. Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te has previously warned about China’s strategy of using influence warfare and military pressure in an attempt to annex Taiwan, emphasizing that this strategy would remain a constant challenge. Speaking at the DPP’s national congress, he also addressed internal political issues and the importance of safeguarding Taiwan’s sovereignty and democratic values. The president highlighted the role of civil society in preserving Taiwan’s democracy.
