Trump stated, “We’re very close to a deal with India where they open it up.” He also mentioned a new trade agreement with Indonesia involving reduced tariffs. Trump emphasized that the US is gaining access to markets previously closed to them through the use of tariffs. The statements come amid ongoing discussions between India and the United States regarding a trade agreement, aligning with the commitments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump.
