Elon Musk deleted a tweet referencing Donald Trump and the Epstein files, following a public disagreement between the two. The initial provocation came from Musk, who alleged that Trump’s presence in the Epstein files was preventing their release.
Musk had previously resigned from his role within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), indicating his desire to prioritize his business endeavors. His dissatisfaction with Trump’s policies, particularly the ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ is believed to have fueled the dispute.
The deleted tweet by Musk stated, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Following the tweet’s removal, Musk seemed to suggest a potential truce, replying positively to American Fund Manager Bill Ackman’s call for peace between the two. Musk replied, “ You’s are not wrong.”
The public disagreement coincided with a critical moment for Trump’s proposed ‘big, beautiful bill,’ which included significant tax cuts and increased military spending. The exchange quickly turned to sharp criticisms and accusations, culminating in Musk’s explosive allegations about Trump’s association with Jeffrey Epstein. This occurred shortly after Musk stepped down from his government position.
Supporting Trump during the conflict, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance posted, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
