In a recent statement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that a meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping is highly probable before the year’s end. During discussions in Kuala Lumpur, Rubio conveyed that both the United States and China are keen to make the meeting a reality. While he couldn’t specify the exact timing, Rubio underscored the mutual desire from both sides. His visit to Kuala Lumpur included a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The talks were described as positive and constructive, with the two officials working on tackling current trade tensions and geopolitical issues in Asia. The meeting highlighted the importance of identifying areas where both countries can cooperate.
