Former US President Donald Trump has declared his selection for the new US Ambassador to India: Sergio Gor. In addition to his role as Ambassador, Gor will also serve as the Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. This announcement was made via a post on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
Currently, Sergio Gor serves as the Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. Upon confirmation by the US Senate, Gor will become the permanent US Ambassador to India. This appointment follows the departure of Eric Garcetti, which occurred seven months ago. Sergio Gor will be the 26th US Ambassador to India.
Trump described Gor as a close ally, friend, and confidant whom he trusts completely. He emphasized the necessity of having someone who can fully implement his objectives and further the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) agenda within the most populous region of the world.
Sergio Gor has a long history of being both a political and personal confidant to Trump. He held a significant role during Trump’s presidential campaign. Gor also contributed to the publication of Trump’s bestselling books and was the leader of a major Super PAC that supported Trump.
As the Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House, Gor played a vital role in staffing the Donald Trump administration. Trump praised Gor and his team for rapidly appointing approximately 4,000 ‘America First Patriots’ across various departments of the federal government, which led to over 95% of positions being filled within government departments and agencies.
