President Donald Trump announced on Sunday (June 22, 2025) that the United States had launched a ‘very successful attack’ on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the underground uranium enrichment site at Fordo. This surprising announcement came just two days after Trump had expressed openness to diplomatic negotiations. He is scheduled to address the nation at 0200 GMT (7:30 a.m. IST), after the U.S. decided to join Israel’s military campaign against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow.”
This escalation of military action is taking place amidst the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, now in its second week. On Friday (June 20), there were additional exchanges of strikes between the two sides, while European foreign ministers held urgent talks with Iran’s top diplomat in Geneva to try to find a solution. However, the four-hour meeting concluded without any progress.
