Former President Donald Trump has reiterated his stance on the Nobel Peace Prize, suggesting that a failure to award him the prize would constitute an insult to the United States. He claims to have successfully concluded seven major international conflicts, and views the potential resolution of the Gaza conflict as his eighth significant achievement.
This statement comes ahead of the October 10th announcement of this year’s Nobel Prize recipients. Trump has frequently commented on the prize. In 2024, he said that if his name were Obama, he would have won the Nobel Prize immediately. He contrasted this with his own accomplishments, earned through winning an election. He repeated these sentiments in his current remarks.
Speaking to officials at the Quantico military headquarters in Virginia on Tuesday, Trump stated, “We’ve nearly resolved the Gaza issue. Now we’ll see if Hamas agrees. If they don’t, they’ll face difficulties. The positive aspect is that all Arab and Muslim nations have given their consent, and Israel also agrees.”
Trump added, “Think about it, resolving eight conflicts in eight months is no small feat? But I won’t receive the Nobel. This honor will go to someone who has done nothing, or perhaps to an author who writes a book about Trump’s thought processes and sells the story of my hard work.”
Trump stated that not receiving the Nobel would be a national insult, not a personal one. He remarked, “I don’t want this award for myself. America deserves it because the world has never seen such an achievement. Resolving eight conflicts is akin to a miracle.”
News reports indicate that Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by seven countries. These nations include Pakistan, Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Gabon. The Nobel Committee traditionally keeps nomination details confidential for 50 years.
