President Donald Trump has declared that Pakistan is among the countries conducting nuclear weapons tests, using this as a rationale for the United States to also resume its own testing program. Trump stated in a CBS ’60 Minutes’ interview that while the US is transparent about its nuclear activities, other nations like Russia, China, and North Korea are testing without similar openness. “We’re the only country that doesn’t test,” Trump observed, adding that this situation necessitates American testing to maintain parity and preparedness. He specifically mentioned Pakistan and North Korea as countries that have been actively testing. The decision, he indicated, is a direct response to Russia’s recent advanced nuclear system trials and the broader trend of global nuclear development. Trump further asserted that the US possesses an overwhelming nuclear capability, enough to “blow up the world 150 times,” but stressed the importance of verifying the effectiveness of these weapons through testing, especially in light of international advancements.
