Donald Trump, after China’s massive military parade, voiced his views on the event, remarking on the impressive display of military strength. While noting the parade’s impact, he voiced his disappointment that President Xi Jinping’s speech did not acknowledge the role of the United States in aiding China’s fight for independence. Trump stated his belief that the U.S. deserved mention for its contributions. The parade, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, showcased China’s advancing military capabilities, including a new hypersonic missile and underwater drones. President Xi Jinping assured the nation of peaceful development and described the country as ‘invincible’. Before the parade, Trump had accused Xi Jinping of conspiring against the U.S., as Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin were in attendance. Trump also highlighted his good relationships with Xi Jinping and others involved. He added that he felt it would not have been appropriate for him to attend the parade. Trump expressed a desire for recognition of the US’s involvement in helping China achieve independence.
