President Donald Trump has decided to send more defensive weapons to Ukraine, just days after a temporary pause in deliveries. Trump confirmed the decision, underscoring the necessity for Ukraine to protect itself. The move follows a review of U.S. military spending and foreign aid, guided by the principle of ‘America’s interests first.’ White House officials suggest that this also reflects the Pentagon’s focus on preparing for potential conflicts. This announcement comes after conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump has been critical of Putin, while his discussion with Zelensky was seen as successful. Ukraine has been requesting additional support to strengthen its air defenses amid intensifying attacks from Russia. The U.S. has provided substantial military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war in 2022.
