In a recent online statement, former US President Donald Trump reiterated his long-held view that his tariff policies were instrumental in fostering global peace and resolving international conflicts. Trump boldly asserted that his administration successfully halted “5 of the eight WARS” through the strategic use of trade duties, emphasizing the financial leverage they provided. He further claimed the United States benefited significantly, collecting “TRILLIONS of Dollars in Tariffs and Investment Dollars.”
Trump’s approach involved using the potential imposition or removal of tariffs as a means to pressure warring nations into negotiations or ceasefires. This aligns with past statements where he suggested tariffs played a role in de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, though this assertion lacks official endorsement from the Indian government.
In a different diplomatic arena, Trump has reportedly set November 27 as a deadline for Ukraine to engage with a detailed 28-point peace plan designed to end the conflict with Russia. This comes at a critical juncture for Ukraine, with President Zelenskyy alluding to significant choices regarding national integrity and international alliances. According to reports, Trump indicated that while progress in negotiations could lead to an extension, the current deadline signifies an important timeframe for potential resolution.
