In a move set to reshape regional security, the United States has greenlit the sale of sophisticated military hardware to India. The approved deals, worth over $90 million, will equip the Indian Army with the highly effective Javelin anti-tank missile system and the precision-guided Excalibur artillery rounds. The Javelin, a man-portable weapon system, offers a revolutionary ‘fire-and-forget’ capability, enabling soldiers to eliminate armored threats with remarkable ease and safety. This system’s advanced infrared guidance ensures targets are hit with precision, even at ranges exceeding two kilometers. The Excalibur artillery rounds add another layer of precision, capable of guiding projectiles to their targets with laser-like accuracy, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of Indian artillery. These acquisitions are seen as a strategic move to enhance India’s defense readiness and deter potential aggressors, marking a significant development in South Asian geopolitics. The procurements aim to replenish existing stocks and expand operational capacities, fostering greater interoperability with allied forces.
