The White House was taken aback by the attacks. Trump expressed his displeasure to the press. Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, stated that Qatar is an important ally and plays a crucial role in the peace process. Therefore, an attack on its territory is not beneficial for either the US or Israel.
Trump reassured both the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar that such an event would not recur. He also expressed concern to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and advised him to advance the peace process. Trump posted on social media that the decision was Netanyahu’s, not his. He instructed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalize the US-Qatar defense agreement as soon as possible. Due to the US stance, it is believed that Qatar will not retaliate against the Israeli attacks.
