US Vice President JD Vance has openly shared his personal wish for his wife, Usha Vance, to convert to Christianity. Vance, who embraced Catholicism in 2019, spoke about his faith journey and his hopes for his wife, who comes from a Hindu background. During a Turning Point USA event, he responded affirmatively when asked if he hoped she would “come to Christ.” “Yeah, I honestly do wish that because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way,” Vance said. He quickly added a crucial caveat: faith is a personal choice, and his wife possesses complete freedom in this regard. Vance highlighted that their marriage is founded on mutual respect, and any differences in religious belief are navigated with understanding. “But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will, and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me,” he clarified. The Vice President explained how they have structured their family life, particularly concerning their children’s religious upbringing. They have chosen to raise their three children as Christians, with their older children attending Christian schools. Usha Vance, a prominent lawyer, has previously mentioned in interviews that while she and her husband raise their children Christian, she personally has no plans for conversion. The couple’s approach underscores a commitment to open dialogue, respect for individual beliefs, and shared family values.
