These speeches, available on the UN’s YouTube platform, covered a range of critical global issues.
Kenya: The Kenyan President’s speech was also widely heard, with 138,000 views. President William Ruto focused on peace in Gaza and Sudan, reforms in the IMF and World Bank, permanent seats for Africa on the UN Security Council, challenges of the Haiti mission, and global inequalities, stating that the United Nations is facing its biggest credibility crisis today.
Nigeria: The Nigerian speech also garnered significant attention, with 127,000 views. Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed the 80th UNGA session, demanding a permanent seat for Nigeria on the Security Council and advocating for bridging the digital divide. He also discussed the Gaza-Palestine issue, stating that a clear two-state solution is the path to lasting peace.
