    Supreme Court on General Medicines: The country’s apex court Supreme Court has directed doctors to write generic medicines for patients. The Supreme Court has advised doctors not to write medicines of a particular company. The Supreme Court ordered that the doctor should prescribe generic medicines instead of writing medicines from a particular company. Prior to the Supreme Court, the Rajasthan High Court had given a similar verdict.

    The Supreme Court has made this remark during the hearing of the petition related to pharmaceutical companies. In this petition, pharmaceutical companies were accused of arbitrariness.     The bench of 3 judges pronounced the decision by Sandeep Mehta, Vikram Nath and Sanjay Karol, a bench of three judges of the court. During the hearing of the case, the Supreme Court said-Doctors are often accused of taking bribe from pharmaceutical companies. In such a situation, if the doctors prescribe generic medicines, then the issue of accusation against them will also be resolved. Earlier, the Rajasthan High Court also issued an executive order in this regard.
